  IPC Executive Director Appointed

The Illinois Pioneer Coalition Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Stephanie Buck has agreed to serve the coalition as the Executive Director.

Stephanie is a life- long resident of Decatur, is married and has two children, 14 and 8 years old. She has always worked with seniors or persons with disabilities, even at a young age. As a college student, she spent the summer in Hilo, Hawaii to live with her uncle where she worked as an activity assistant in an Adult Day Care. Stephanie was immediately hooked and changed her major from education to social work.  She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Illinois State University and returned to Decatur to start her career in geriatrics.

Stephanie has worked in home and community-based services, primarily with the Community Care Program as a case manager and then as a director. Her experience working within this context involved extensive work with many government entities including the Illinois Department on Aging, Area Agencies on Aging, Illinois Department of Public Health, DHS, to name a few.  She enjoys being active in committees and groups related to policy making and networking and has worked with a variety of senior-related organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association as Memory Walk chair, with AARP in  assisting with legislation, and many others. She also has experience in the long term care setting, as an admissions director of a skilled nursing facility and as an administrator of the first assisted living in the Decatur area.

“It is with great enthusiasm and appreciation that I have been given this opportunity to bring my experiences to this team of dedicated members of the Illinois Pioneer Coalition,” says Stephanie, “I look forward to being a part of an organization instrumental in making a positive culture change in the long term care setting for the people of Illinois.”

Stephanie is available at stephaniebuck@illinoispioneercoalition.org or 847-420-2828.
